Seadrift VFD FiretruckOn Monday, Oct. 16th, the Seadrift Volunteer Fire Department visited Seadrift School to help teach students about fire safety and prevention.
Assistant Chief Cruz Rubio, Training Captain James Salazar, firefighters Aaron Recker, Andrew Moon and Shari Gerking brought the firetruck along with Sparky and Blaze to demonstrate fire safety for our students.
The students were shown the different tools available on the firetruck for the firefighters to use when battling fires and helping people during accidents.  The students were given the opportunity to spray water from the fire hose.

Sparky & Blaze helped the firefighters demonstrate safety procedures for the students to use if they are ever in a situation where they need to protect themselves and others from a fire.  They taught the students to Stop, Drop, Cover & Roll, and to make sure that they remember to Get Out & Stay Out as well as how and when to call 911 for help.
